The Fireplace had to be removed from this shot as this was the preferred view of the room with the sofas in this L shaped configuration.
It was a simple case of shooting the wall picture separately so that it could be lowered on the wall to cover the fire hood. Then the result copied and reversed so it could be dropped into the mirror reflection.
I find by doing the retouching myself, I know which extra pictures need to be taken for the retouching and therefore how location rooms can be adapted to suit our needs. This saves a lot on set-building costs if the real rooms can be adjusted to fit in with the lay out, rather than having to build costly sets in the studio.
